Keep This House is a set of guides. You can read them without making an account, leaving a comment, or signing up for email, because none of those exist here.

What we collect

We do not ask you for a name, email, or payment. There is no login and no form that stores a quote you typed.

The computer that serves the site still sees what any host sees: the page you requested, your IP address, your browser, and the time. That is how the internet works. We do not sell a mailing list of readers, because we do not have one.

On-site search runs in your browser against a copy of the titles and summaries. The query can show up in the address bar as ?q=. If you share that URL, the words you searched are in the link.

Who else is on the request

Cloudflare hosts the site (Pages) and sits in front of it as a CDN. Their systems log requests the way a host does. Cloudflare’s privacy policy covers that.

Google Fonts load Fraunces and Source Sans from Google’s servers so the type looks the same on your phone and mine.

Google AdSense shows ads when a page is eligible. Google uses cookies and similar tools to serve those ads, including ads based on prior visits to this site and other sites. Google’s advertising cookies let Google and its partners show ads based on those visits. You can opt out of personalized ads in Google Ads Settings. You can also use aboutads.info for some other vendors. Google explains the rest in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and Google’s privacy policy.

This privacy URL does not load the AdSense tag. Other pages on the site do.

Amazon Associates. Product links to Amazon use a tracking ID so Amazon can tell if a purchase started here. Amazon may set cookies or pixels when you follow those links. Amazon’s own notices cover what they do after you leave. The commission wording is on the disclosure.

Commission Junction (CJ). Some home-service quotes, including a home warranty, use CJ tracking links marked sponsored. Clicking one sends you through CJ so they can attribute a later signup. CJ describes that in their services privacy notice. We do not put the tracking URL on this page.

Other quote or retail programs stay off until they have an ID in our partner list. If a new one goes live, this note should name it.

What we do not do

We do not run a first-party analytics tag in the site code today. If that changes, this note should say so.

We do not try to identify you as a person from the host logs. We do not pass your email or phone to Google with an ad request, because we never collected them.

Kids under 13: this site is written for people who own or maintain a house. Do not send a child here to create an account. There is no account to create.

How to opt out

• Personalized Google ads: Ads Settings
• Some other ad cookies: aboutads.info
• Browser controls: block third-party cookies, or use the browser’s tracking-protection mode. Ads and affiliate attribution may stop working. The guides still load.

A privacy policy is not a cookie banner. If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, Google has extra consent rules for ads. We have not installed a consent popup yet. That is a gap, not a claim that those rules do not apply.

If you want first-party data deleted, say so. There is usually nothing in our hands besides a log line a host already rotates. We cannot delete Google’s or Amazon’s or CJ’s copies of a click.
